p>I often get this question: "I would like to visit Iceland with my kids
but isn't it dangerous?" Or even: "We are newlyweds, is Iceland a
romantic place?"And what about families with kids and/or teenagers,
young or middle age couples, seniors? What about solo travelers? It is challenging to try to answer those questions. 1. Families with Children The fact is that Iceland is probably one of the best places to be with
your children! Why? Because seldom will they feel as free and safe
as during a visit to Iceland. Not to mention that hotels and all lodgings provide exceptionally good
facilities for kids. And believe me, they won't get bored, not possible.
Bring them to one of Iceland's many thermal pools (indoor or outdoors) and they will not want to leave anymore! 2. Young or middle age couples You will enjoy how easy it is to find your way around no matter
whether you travel by car, bicycle or motorbike. And if you
need assistance you will certainly get it from helpful Icelanders. You will most probably also experience a very romantic
atmosphere being in such a different environment... All you have to make
sure of is to pack correctly for your trip and to have a good map! Iceland continues to be a very popular destination for honeymooners...
or even THE PLACE where you marry... And remember - almost everyone speaks some English so
you shouldn't have any language problems. 3. Seniors The same applies to seniors. Just take with you your most
comfortable shoes and don't be afraid to ask for assistance if needed.
Icelanders are invariably very helpful despite sometimes being describes
as "closed" and will go out of their way to assist you anytime. Learn to relax in Iceland's hot pots in the various swimming pools all
over the country, under a blue sky - and you will wonder how you
will manage at home without such luxury!
4. Solo travelers Being single myself, I have often wished that I had a foreign country
somewhat similar to Iceland to go to as a solo traveler. Why? Because
Iceland offers good safety, helpful people and good opportunities to get
to know other travelers or Icelanders themselves... always assuming
you want to. Hostels, camping places or hotels in the countryside are ideal either
for being alone or wanting to strike up a conversation with other
travelers or Icelanders. Don't be shy to take the first step in starting a conversation with an
Icelander - we tend to be rather shy or reserved. The only thing I probably wouldn't do anymore, being a woman,
was to hitchhike alone. |
